What if I have questions after bringing my kitten home?
We're glad to stay in touch after pickup. If you have questions about feeding, behavior, health, or anything else during the transition, reach out and we'll do our best to help.
The first few days in a new home are usually the biggest adjustment period, and it's completely normal for a kitten to hide more than expected, eat less than usual, or seem unusually quiet at first — this typically resolves within a few days to a week as your kitten settles in and builds confidence. Common early questions we hear include how to introduce a kitten to resident pets without overwhelming anyone, how to set up litter boxes and feeding stations for the first week, how much handling versus quiet space a kitten needs early on, and how to keep a feeding schedule consistent through the transition. None of these are questions you need to have pre-planned answers for — that's exactly what we're here for.
For medical concerns specifically — anything about symptoms, illness, or your kitten's health that goes beyond general adjustment behavior — we'll always point you toward your veterinarian as the right resource, since that's who can actually examine your kitten and give guidance specific to what's happening. We're glad to help you think through when something seems like normal adjustment versus worth a vet call, but we're not a substitute for hands-on veterinary care.
This support isn't limited to the first week or two, either. Whether it's three weeks or three years down the road, if a question comes up about your NorthCountry kitten, we'd genuinely like to hear from you. Contact us any time, and if you're considering adding another Maine Coon to the family, take a look at our available kittens.
